My "Heritage" Frame

"Iowa Barns" is framed in an antique window that I found in my grandparent's shed during a visit to Iowa in 2004.  I thought about that window for years and finally had it shipped to California after I visited my grandmothers in June of this year.  The photos were all taken on this most recent trip.  One of the photos was taken from my grandparent's back yard and another was taken in the town where my ancestors settled after immigrating from Scotland and Ireland in the 1800's.

I was born in Iowa but moved to Michigan when I was 4.  We took a trip to visit family in Iowa every summer and I have fond memories of the fields and farms.  I'm very excited to finally have a window frame of my own celebrating my family's heritage!

"Petite Window on Hollister"  was a  special request from a friend who is moving away from Hollister.  We chose colorful pictures that would remind their family of the beauty of Hollister for years to come.  The photos are matted and framed in a restored antique window.

Barns of San Benito County

Custom Framed in an Antique Window

This framed piece features six barns from around San Benito County (Hollister, Paicines, and Tres Pinos).  The black and white photos are professionally printed and mounted.  They are secured in an antique window which has been preserved with polycrylic.  It is signed and dated and includes a sturdy hanging system.

This unique piece is being donated by Vista Notes by Rochelle to the Gabilan Chapter Kinship Center for their 51st Annual Wine and Food Tasting.  The piece will be part of their silent auction on September 8, 2007 at Paicines Ranch.

Wow, did we have a good time at the 51st Annual Kinship Wine and Food Tasting at Paicines Ranch!  Fabulous food and wine and the setting was incredible.

Vista Notes donated a framed set of barn photos for the silent auction.  The winning bid was $325!  All proceeds go to the Kinship Center which helps children in many different ways.  The event typically attracts about 1,600 people!

"Rainbow Rooster" - 2006

A single pane vintage window was used to frame this striking 20 x 30 photograph of "Rainbow".  The window measures 27 1/2" wide by 36" high and has a strong hanging wire on the back.  The original vintage paint and imperfections in the wood were left as-is and sealed with a clear coat of polyurethane.  The print is matted in a buttery yellow single mat.

Rainbow is (was?) a resident of  San Juan Bautista California where roosters are a quaint part of the local culture.  Very recently most of the roosters were removed from the town and relocated to a rescue ranch.  We don't know if Rainbow was one of them but we are happy to have this regal photo of him anyway!

"Blue Rooster" - 2006

"Blue" is a print enlargement measuring approximately 20 x 30 inches.  He is also framed in a single pane vintage window sealed with polyurethane.  He is matted in the same yellow mat and also includes a hanging wire.  This window is slightly smaller than Rainbow's but they look nice together (see below).

"Blenheim Apricots" is framed in a refurbished antique window with a strong hanging wire on the back.  The original wood stain is sealed with poly and coordinates nicely with the tree branches and redwood drying trays.  The mat is a subtle yellow/peach that brings out the color of the fruit.

"Blenheim Apricots" - 2006

Hollister is famous for it's Blenheim Apricots and this photo collage captures the beauty of this local fruit.  The collage features two photos of the fruit on the tree.  The third picture reminds us of those lazy summer days with a crate of freshly picked fruit waiting under a tree.  The final picture is another site famous in Hollister - freshly cleaned and sliced fruit drying on redwood trays in the sun.  The final product is delicious dried apricot products that will be ready for the holiday gift baskets!  See my friends at B&R Farms for dried apricot products ... call me to add this collage to your home!  $200  SOLD!  Thank you!

"Window on Hollister" - 2006

"Window on Hollister" is a one-of-a-kind collage of 8 original 5 x 7 photographs taken in Hollister California and the surrounding areas.  The photos are matted in two camel colored mats and framed in a vintage window.  The multiple layers of old, weathered paint were left in place and sealed with a clear coat of polyurethane.  The window measures 26 3/4 inches wide by 36 inches high and has a strong hanging wire on the back.  This window makes a unique wall hanging and a fun conversation piece for any fan of our beautiful Hollister scenery!
